Fasting is a cleansing therapy and its purpose is to relieve the body of heaviness, making the body light. Its also a friendly way to loose weight.

FAsting is basically Time-Restricted eating. It needs to be promoted as a daily practice and not related only with festivals or rituals. 

Fasting/ Langhana (Sanskrit) is typically recommended for diseases or conditions in which there is a heaviness or an obstruction such as diabetes, sinusitis, asthma, indigestion, obesity, high cholesterol, fever and constipation, joint pains and even cancer. In today's time when diseases are increasing with greater speed than treatments, it's almost mandatory for everyone to take their own responsibility and learn how to keep themselves fit and healthy naturally.
